In 1988, GKN was the first western company to invest in the automotive component industry in China. 

Through almost 30 years’ investment and development of our capabilities, GKN now operates from 19 manufacturing locations in China, employing more than 8,000 people and serving a number of high growth markets including automotive, aerospace, agricultural and construction.

GKN Driveline’s roots in the Indian automotive market go back to the 1980s and the company currently employs more than 2,000 at seven sites across its three divisions. 

GKN Driveline has factories in Faridabad and Dharuhera, near Delhi in the north, Pune in the West, and Oragadam, near Chennai, in the south. A GKN Aerospace engineering centre is located in Bangalore, while GKN Powder Metallurgy has manufacturing sites in Ahmendnagar and Pimpri.

Japan is an important base for global research and development, as well as manufacturing, for GKN Driveline. 

Manufacturing operations are based in Tochigi and Nagoya, supplying a wide range of driveline solutions covering CVJs, all-wheel drive and eDrive, and there is a technology centre and proving ground in Daikoji where various vehicle testing is conducted. GKN Driveline in Tochigi was established in 1949.

GKN Driveline began producing CVJs in Thailand in the 1990s. Based in Rayong, the site today employees over 700 people.

GKN Aerospace also has a small facility where it manufactures aircraft transparencies and other special products.
