Throughout 2010 and 2011 GKN Engineers have been working closely with selected university and industrial partners to develop the next generation of aluminium materials and processes which provide for significant improvements over traditional materials and processes (castings, forgings, machining). Areas that have been targeted are highly stressed components, elevated temperature performance, improved wear resistance, and improved thermal conductivity. GKN will provide updates as these technologies become available or are utilized in the commercial sector.
