Diffusion bonding

Overview

Diffusion bonding is a solid state welding process whereby two metals are brought together in the presence of heat and pressure to form a joint. Application of heat and pressure provides the intimate contact required for atoms to migrate across the joint resulting in very high joint efficiencies.

Advantages

  • High joint efficiencies
  • Joining dissimilar metals is possible
  • Consistent process

Used on

  • Engine inner fixed structure
  • Engine exhausts
  • Engine bay panels
