Liquid resin infusion (LRI)
Overview
A process where dry carbon fibre material is laid into a tool. The carbon material can be pre-formed into 3D shapes. The resin is then injected according to precise requirements of temperature and pressure.
Advantages
- Single mould used – less cost
- Large volume parts with low cost tooling
- Good strength from pre-form
- Repeatable process
- Clean process
- Ambient curing
- Integrated solutions
Used on
- Integrated wing programme
- Next generation composite wing programme
